The opioid abuse problem in our country is a human catastrophe unique in our lifetimes. Lives are damaged and lives are lost every day in numbers that only a few years ago would have been unthinkable. Many solutions to this problem are being tried with varying degrees of success.
One solution that unquestionably helps many people is that of Managed Addiction Treatment.
This involves the carefully monitored administration of medications that help our patients manage their addiction. At Garrett Treatment Center we will use two of these treatment approaches to help our patients manage their addiction. Suboxone (a mixture of buprenorphine and naloxone) and Vivitrol (a long acting narcotic blocking agent) are the 2 medications that we will focus on to help our patients regain control of their lives and their futures. These medications, and ongoing counseling that is of vital importance in this process, form the cornerstone of this particular approach to addiction treatment at our facility.
